Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon adds rich flavor to the cinnamon sugar
  • ½ cup granulated sugar used for the cinnamon sugar mixture
  • Two 8-oz packages refrigerated crescent roll dough or sheets for the flaky crust
  • 16 oz full-fat cream cheese softened (main filling ingredient)
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar for the cheesecake filling
  • 1 large egg binds the cheesecake filling
  • teaspoons vanilla extract flavor enhancer for the filling
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter melted and cooled slightly adds richness to the top

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and position the rack in the middle. Grease a 9×13 baking pan and sprinkle 1-2 tablespoons of cinnamon sugar in the bottom.
  2. Unroll one tube of crescent dough and press the seams together to form one large rectangle. Place it into the bottom of the prepared 9×13 baking pan, covering the entire base.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, sugar, egg, and vanilla extract. Beat until the mixture is smooth and fully combined.
  4. Pour the cream cheese mixture over the dough, spreading it evenly.
  5. Unroll the second tube of crescent dough, press the seams together, and place it over the cheesecake layer. It should completely cover the filling.
  6. Drizzle melted butter over the top of the dough layer and spread it evenly using the back of a spoon. Sprinkle the remaining cinnamon sugar mixture over the buttered dough.
  7. Bake for 26-30 minutes, or until the dough is puffed and golden brown. Remove from the oven and place on a wire rack to cool completely. After cooling, refrigerate for at least 3 hours.
  8. Once chilled, cut into 16 bars and serve.
