Equipment

  • 1 Measuring cup or pitcher To strain and store the brewed tea.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water for brewing the tea
  • 1 teaspoon loose black tea leaves chai patti (or 1 tea bag)
  • 10-12 mint leaves for brewing and garnishing
  • 2 teaspoons sugar or substitute with honey or stevia
  • 1 cup apple juice or apple-flavored soda
  • 2 teaspoons freshly squeezed lime juice
  • Ice cubes as needed to fill glasses

Directions

  • Bring the water to a simmer in a medium saucepan.
  • Add the tea leaves, mint leaves, and sugar to the simmering water.
  • Allow the tea to simmer for about 1 minute, then remove from heat.
  • Strain the tea into a measuring cup or pitcher and let it cool for 10 minutes.
  • Fill two tall glasses with ice, adding 4-5 mint leaves to each.
  • Pour ½ cup apple juice (or apple soda) into each glass, followed by ½ cup of the brewed tea.
  • Stir 1 teaspoon of lime juice into each glass and garnish with apple slices and lemon wedges.

Notes

This drink is great for hot days! Feel free to adjust the sweetness by substituting sugar with honey or stevia. For an adult version, try adding a splash of your favorite alcohol like vodka or rum.
